Starting with a blank canvas, the artist transforms the
unity of whiteness into a work containing form, color and
composition. The flat surface is given depth, or rather, the
illusion of depth by the placement of objects and the
gradations of color intensity and hue. But something more is
required of the artist; mechanical proficiency isn't enough,
every artist, no matter the medium, must contribute some of
the inner self to the work.
